Afghan fig exports amount to approximately 33,000 tonnes annually, most of which go to
Canada, India, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The main obstacles to the expansion of fig exports from Afghanistan are the lack of standard processing
facilities and investment in the packaging sector.
